The BRICS Law Institute carries out research and educational projects in the field of comparative and international law in relation to the jurisdictions of the BRICS countries, including the general legal issues and the integration of legal education systems.

Post-graduate course at the University of São Paulo and the Catholic University of São Paulo. University Professor in the Graduate Program at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, since 1973.

University Professor in the Graduate Course, at Paulista University of São Paulo - UNIP, since 1989 to 1995. University Professor in the Graduate Program at Methodist University of Piracicaba, since 1973-1976.

Prof., Dr. Veniamin Fedorovich Yakovlev

Professor, Doctor of Law, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Veniamin F. Yakovlev went through being a lecturer, Director of the law school in Yakutsk to the Minister of Justice of the USSR, Chairman of the Supreme Arbitration Court of the USSR, and then to the Supreme Arbitration Court of the Russian Federation. From February 2005 till nowdays is the advisor of the Russian President for Legal Affairs. Is the Russian President's representative in the Supreme Qualification Collegium of Judges, Co-Chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia. He has scientific works on problems of the theory of law, civil law, justice.

The Rector of the National Law University (Jodhpur), held the position of Vice-Rector. Prof. Saxena obtained LLM degree at Delhi University (Faculty of Law of DU's Campus Law Centre) (1981) and doctor degree (1988) at the Faculty of law. In the period from 1982 to 2004 Poonam Saxena went through being a lecturer to professor of the University of Delhi. She headed the administration of the University. She specializes in the field of family law, inheritance law, property law, trusts and charities.

Prof., Dr. L Neil Van Schalkwyk

L Neil Van Schalkwyk is a professor of private law and holds the degrees BA (UP), LLB (UP) LLD (UP). The title of his LLD thesis is “Aspekte van die Onderhoudsaanspraak tussen Eggenotes met spesifieke verwysing na Egskeiding” (Aspects of the Maintenance Claim between Spouses with specific reference to Divorce) (1987).

During his final year LLB (1978) he was a junior lecturer in the Department of Private Law. After completion of his LLB he was appointed state prosecutor in the magistrate’s court Benoni and was appointed as senior lecturer in the Department of Private Law of the University of Pretoria in 1979. Since then he was promoted to associate professor in 1987 and to full professor in 1989.

He teaches Family Law 110 (FMR 110); Family Law 120 (FMR 120); and Law of Things (SAR 310) on an undergraduate level. He also teaches Advanced Matrimonial Property Law 820 (HGG 820) for LLM students and a course on Maintenance for Children for the LLM in Child Law. He was and is the promotor for doctoral students. Neil Van Schalkwyk also attended various conferences, workshops and international conferences.
